*What is JANOG [#z92e34eb]
JANOG is the JApan Network Operators' Group. As with a number of other communities which share the same last three letters NOG, JANOG is a forum for network operators, and it focuses on Japan.

JANOG's two major activities are semiannual meetings and the mailing list. Semiannual meetings are held in various cities in Japan in January and July, and gather 300+ participants. The mailing list - janog[at]janog.gr.jp holds 4000+ subscribers as of April 2008.

***A Note on JANOG's "Japanese Language Policy" [#xf75b627]
One of JANOG's major policies is its "Japanese Language Policy." Japanese is the only official language in which any activities of JANOG should be done, since JANOG is a forum for Japan where the official language is Japanese. We accept and welcome presentation proposals from foreign presenters at JANOG meetings, but we ask them to arrange a Japanese interpreter. On the mailing list, all the discussions are in Japanese, although we may accept non-Japanese posting of some global public announcement.

If you do not read and speak Japanese, we still welcome you to JANOG meetings as participants or as presenters. We may even be able to help you on a best effort basis, but we cannot commit to any further assistance. You are also welcome to subscribe to the mailing list, which is also in Japanese; but you are expected to have agreed to the privacy policy, which is only available in Japanese due to the costs of translating legal documents. Thank you very much for your kind understanding of our "Japanese language policy."

***An effort to get JANOG contents available in English - JANOG i18n Team [#q901e290]
Notwithstanding the Japenase Language Policy on the JANOG mailing list and in meetings, JANOG has started an effort to communicate in English with a voluntary team for it. This team is called "i18n - internationalization" team. This English page is one of the efforts, and some of meeting contents and documents are to be translated into English. Please stay tuned to this page.

*** JANOG26 Agenda [#dd10039e]
- JANOG26 Programs

**Attending JaNOG as an English speaker [#n5ce84d7]
-Of course, JaNOG is entirely in Japanese.
-A number of Japanese attendees speak English quite well, but they have their own work to do.
//-At JaNOG 23, we hope to have a jabber room where bi-lingual volunteers will comment on the talks in real-time and maybe do a bit of scribing.
-JaNOG has traditionally not had a wireless (or wired) network or mains power for laptops.
-The past few meetings have had wireless inside the conference room.
-Providing power for laptops is still a challenge we have yet to accomplish.
-All questions and requests should be sent to the Secretariat>mailto:secretariat@janog.gr.jp.
**How to Register to Attend JaNOG 26 [#h70bcd1c]
- The registration page is in Japanese only. So if you are interested in coming, please contact secretariat[at-mark]janog.gr.jp
**How to Submit a Presentation for JaNOG 26 [#o35f7fec]
- Sorry but we already closed.

**Meeting Contents on Web [#y6f248d4]
JANOG Meeting contents are published on the JANOG Web at http://www.janog.gr.jp/meeting/ in Japanese. The i18n team works on having these contents available in English on a best-effort basis since JANOG21>JANOG21 Programs. This effort will be extended to other past meetings later.
-Last Meeting - JANOG25>JANOG25 Programs, 21st & 22nd January 2010, in Niigata

**Join our Meetings? [#y26563b4]
As described in the "What is JANOG>#z92e34eb" section, our meetings are all in Japanese. However try asking secretariat[at]janog.gr.jp to find if and how we can help you joining JANOG meetings if you are interested! We have had several foreign speakers in English and even some foreign participants.
