Project Cardigan: An SDN Controlled Exchange Fabric

概要

SDN の適応事例のひとつとして、Internet eXchange のネットワークファブリックに SDN を導入し、ネットワークの設計・運用を再考すると言う取り組み(Project Cardigan)がニュージーランドで行われています。

本発表では、Project Cardiganの中でのWellington Internet eXchange (WIX)の取り組み(特に、RouteFlow、Open vSwitchなどのオープンソースソフトウェアを使った仮想ネットワーク部分)をご紹介します。

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) provides some new perspective on the way that we design and manage networks. Project Cardigan is about using this new perspective to re-think how we manage internet exchange fabrics. We demonstrate a distributed router operating on the Wellington Internet eXchange (WIX), built using open source software and commodity hardware. This allows WIX engineers to gain familiarity with SDN concepts and build operational confidence.
