Considerations on Relationship between the Internet and Global Platformer

Abstract

In this session, we would like to study and share how to make better use of the platforms by mixing the platform user and provider.

As you see on the current Internet, it has become common for people to depend on the services like Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook, Yahoo! Japan, Twitter (= Global Platform provider ).

In the JANOGer's perspective, it is commonplace to use these global platform provider's service. In the current Internet, communication with the eyeballs and the huge platform providers are more trend than with end-to-end communication.

*eyeballs: The communication between internet and it's end-users, enterprise users, etc.

Although using these services brings many benefits, too much dependancy on one platform will let us face troubles in the platform affect us greatly, or make us have no other choice but to use the other providers.

In this session, we would like to raise issues regarding to dependency on global platforms, and share the things that Platform provider wants users to consider.
And what should we take care in order to use these properly, to become user and provider can become happy,
Then, we would like to organize / deepen behaviors that are easy to forget from the engineer's point of view, such as: back-up data should be stored at on-premise, the equipment should be maintained properly to have resiliency against whatever platform service provider does.
