Ricoh Co., Ltd. offers video conference and Web conference systems.
In JANOG38 meeting, DMM.com lab, mixi and yahoo had a presentation about their own infrastructures and design policies. This time, I'd like to share an example of a globally operated service.
Especially, video conference and Web conference system have a unique nature: we get scolded if they disconnect. And some users don’t tolerate even “270 seconds of recovery in japan” (presentation by Mr. Matsuzaki from IIJ in JANOG 38 meeting). This encouraged me to automate our troubleshooting.
Please enjoy learning a system combining public clouds of these days.
And also, I'd like to discuss various methods and ideas related to failure recovery automation.
