Fundamentals of Computer System Clocks and Network Time Synchronization
Abstract
It is very important to keep accurate system clocks in the computer systems, for the
normal operations of the application and system managements perspective.
In this presentation, we will introduce basic principle of network time synchronization represented as NTP / PTP, and how the operating system (mainly Linux) system clock is achieved (how it relates to the leap second), and consider the operational point of clock synchronization.
