Let’s Go 100G!
~ How to choose cool optics  ~

Abstract

There are a lot of variations in the optical transceiver (Optics) used for routers and switches. This is behind the fact that the focus of standardization and standardization of Optics, led by IEEE and others, is changing to MSA (Multi Source Agreement).

Also, the disaggregation of the role of the transmission device due to the openness of the optical transmission technology is accelerating the flow of utilizing these new standards of Optics, as also mentioned in JANOG 42 as a keyword.

In this session, we will explain the fundamental technologies and trends of these Optics and introduce the use cases of businesses who actually introduced the new type of Optics standardized by MSA. We will introduce the concept of choosing a number of Optics standards and points of decision making and discuss issues and solutions at the time of introduction.
