What YANG has brought

Abstract

YANG is a data modeling language standardized in the networking industry.
It has been getting used in various use cases such as MD-SAL in OpenDaylight and defining vendor-neutral data models in OpenConfig.
YANG could be used as a fundamental technology for network automation if YANG-based vendor-agnostic data models and/or network abstraction gets popular.
However, there would be challenges in its eco-systems of tool-chains and communities.
This talk gives the speaker's views on benefits YANG has brought to the networking industry and challenges that still remain.
The speaker expects discussions on how YANG can help for recent trends like network automation or open networking.
