IS-IS Basic to the latest topics

Abstract

Link-state protocols are used in many networks. And in Japan, they tend to prefer OSPF over IS-IS. On the other hand, in Leaf-Spine design in a data center network that requires a very tight topology, BGP has become the de facto standard protocol in terms of operations and scalability, and is used in many data center networks. However, OSPF and IS-IS have scalability issues because they carry detailed information about the network. Attempts have been made to change the limit, such as LSVR / RIFT.

The link-state protocols itself are also under review, and this session will explain the basic operation of IS-IS, share the problems with link-state protocols in tight topologies such as data centers, and share efforts to solve them.
