ISPs Outsource E-Mail Operations

Abstract

FamilyNet Japan is an ISP for condominiums with approximately 390,000 households.

The maintenance and operation of e-mail services has been a major problem. To overcome this situation, we outsourced to service providers over two years.

How did you come to outsource, how did you persuade the company, how did you select an outsourcer, how did you migrate, and what kind of trouble did you experience to ensure stable operation? The knowledge gained through the project is shared from the perspective of both the ISP and the service provider.

*forward-looking discussion about how ISPs are going to handle legacy services such as e-mail
*Technical discussions on e-mail operations, especially migration
