概要
Sub-sea cables are at the heart of network connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region. Our research found that sub-sea cable provides approximately 90% or more availability. But on the other hand, we couldn’t find a sub-sea cable that delivers the 99.999% availability that hyperscale cloud operators demand from their data centers. Nowadays, data centers are positioned in the global network, and without the use of sub-sea cables, the service quality required by users cannot be achieved. We will consider what methods can be used to fill the availability gap based on various data, and explain the actions that can be taken. ● Is it beneficial for Japanese network operators from a technical / operational perspective? → You can learn about the role of sub-sea cables required in the cloud era, and the gap between their expectations and reality. ● Is the point of discussion clear? → We will explain the importance of networks in the cloud era from a global perspective. ● Can we expect to make new discoveries through presentations / discussions? → We will explain the themes in the global network that will become important in the future, such as the limit of availability of sub-sea cables and the measures to overcome the limit.
