Abstract

Starting with an MX record that specifies where emails are delivered, various settings related to email security, such as sender authentication, also make use of DNS. Under such circumstances, a protocol called DANE, which is premised on DNSSEC, has begun to spread mainly in Europe as a mechanism for guaranteeing email encryption. Until now, we could set up email security just by writing DNS records, but if we don’t support DNSSEC, we cannot set up email security. Also MTA-STS, which has a similar mechanism, requires us to publish policies on the web server. In other words, if we cannot manage the web server, we cannot set mail security. I would like to introduce such some new email security mechanism and discuss smooth operation methods.
