概要
When multiple locations in Hokkaido are connected by Internet VPN to
form a wide area network, latency is not negligible due to the
back-and-forth between network communication and Tokyo. The negative
impact on the user experience is particularly significant due to the
increase in services and systems that require low latency in recent
years. Therefore, we built a wide area network on the NGN network
provided by NTT East for the purpose of improving latency and speed.
As a result of the so-called “NGN turnaround” communication between
sites using IPv6 networks, latency was significantly improved and the
user experience was positively impacted. In this session, we will
introduce the structure of this wide area network, including the
challenges of construction and operation, as well as topics specific
to Hokkaido, such as network failure during the harsh winter season.
