概要

The recent outstanding traffic increase by downloading massive update of game software and live streaming of super-popular artists are being pain for the eyeball networks, and these traffic are usually delivered from content delivery networks (CDNs).

Even eyeball networks may try to control the traffic from CDNs to avoid congestions or increasing charges by a upstream provider/peering/PNIs,

by traffic engineering technics, however, sometimes it may turn out to cause the traffic from unexpected interconnections or the traffic congestion in somewhere, and it would result impacts on end-user’s service quality and user experiences.

This session introduces traffic mechanisms of CDNs and sample cases that traffic controls of an eyeball had an impact on the traffic congestion during delivery from a CDN. Based on it, we will discuss what eyeball ISPs and CDNs can collaborate to achieve smooth event traffic handling

and continue good relationship to keep eyeballs happy.

The suggestions and traffic engineering experiences from audiences are also very welcome.
