概要
In January 2021, we introduced our first network controller in the OCN network, which enables our customers to change their network configurations through Web API operations. To achieve a broad concept of SDN that controls appliance-based networks, we only introduced the network controller without any significant modification of our network architecture presented in JANOG43.
There are several network controller products in the market, but we decided to adopt OCN’s in-house orchestration framework: Qmonos SDK. In this talk, we firstly would like to share the reasons for our decisions, the structural design of Qmonos SDK, the control logic for OCN, and the difficulties we have encountered in the deployment. Furthermore, we would like to discuss the best practice on how to introduce the SDN concept into an existing network with JANOG attendees.
