Abstract

Recent traffic at CATV and ISP tend to be frequent between specific ASes.
This leads to the situation where traffic exchange at IX peering concentrates on some specific ASes.
Thus, providers are attracted to introducing Private Peering (PNI) as the next step from transit connection or IX peering.
We today would like to discuss pros and cons of PNI, necessary operations and troubles when connecting by PNI.
Hopefully our program supports CATV or ISP who are considering PNI to take the next step.

Outline
– What ratio of traffic would be the threshold for thinking of introducing PNI
– How to negotiate with peers from overseas (Do we need contracts or so?)
– Do PNI and IX peering get along in peace?
– Who or which side is responsible for the Internet connection?
etc.
