Practical Implementation of Telemetry Technology in a Multi-vendor Environment using gNMIc

日本語版はこちら

Abstract

It is well known today that real-time monitoring technology is essential for fault
detection and performance analysis in network operations. Telemetry monitoring
has been advocated as a monitoring technology that provides such real-time
performance and has begun to be implemented in equipment from various vendors.
In the past, there have been presentations and discussions on telemetry at JANOG.

However, there are still few examples of actual implementation of telemetry technology.
Typical implementation challenges are

1. Complex integration up to visualisation (integration of collectors, databases, dashboards, etc.)
2. Use in multi-vendor environments
3. System robustness.

This session will review the need for telemetry technology and the issues that have been
identified as challenges, It will look in detail at the specific features and benefits of the open source gNMIc,
which has recently been contributed to OpenConfig. It will also discuss other challenges and
countermeasures when implementing telemetry technology.
