Abstract
In this presentation I will talk about the BGP Monitoring Protocol.
BMP is a protocol for monitoring BGP route fluctuations.
It seems to have been discussed at JANOG around 2014, but I don’t think we have heard much about it since then. At that time, we could only see routes received from BGP peers, but since then, the protocol has been updated to allow monitoring of advertised routes and best paths as well.
In this presentation, I will once again introduce what kind of information can be obtained using BMP, as well as the BMP collection environment that can be built with OSS.
Through this presentation, I hope to make everyone aware of the existence of the BMP protocol and to trigger discussion on how it can be utilized in operations.
