Watch out for the new gTLDs (New Generic Top Level Domains)!
Abstract
Applications for the new gTLDs is currently processed under the ICANN's
new gTLD program and actual name delegations have started from October 2013.
One the other hand, before the adoption of the new gTLDs, there are
cases where organizations configure their own TLD for various reasons.
For example, for internal system only used within one's own organization
which do no operator without a TLD, is an example of the case of
configuring and operating with an own TLD.
If this name and the name of the new gTLD are the same, cases occur
where one cannot communicate properly with networks using the new gTLDs.
This is not a good situation from the perspective of using the new gTLDs
as well.
This presentation will introduce some examples of name collisions,
including the actual case which happened in NTT group, and raise
awareness on the service providers on the issue of the new gTLDs by
describing how network operators should handle such case, what should we
look at, what are the reference materials and measure taken by JPNIC.
