Title

Let's talk about IP anycast

Abstract

IP Anycast is a server side technology, it ensures the answer to the client will always come from the topologically closest server. Anycast uses routing protocols so, it is stable, can reduce delay, balance load, and localise failures, so it has been widely used in several applications, including DNS. Anycast is a very effective technique if used correctly. On the other hand, there are many gotchas with network design, operation, and trouble shooting.

In this talk, I will show implementation examples and troubleshooting examples and talk about the advantages for both, persons who implements IP anycast and the people who use it. After that, I would like to discuss the limitations and effective uses of IP Anycast.
