Regional IX or Hub IX? – Expectations for Fukuoka IX from the Perspective of Regional ISPs

Abustract

Japan’s three major IXs, BBIX, JPNAP, and JPIX (tentative), are going to gather in Fukuoka. The Fukuoka IX is expected to play a role as a “regional IX” to aggregate the Kyushu traffic, but from the perspective of local ISPs located a little far from Fukuoka, it may appear differently.

In this presentation, we would like to discuss with local ISPs located a little far from Fukuoka about the Internet situation in each region, the attractiveness of Fukuoka IX from the viewpoint of each region, and the expectations for the future.
