Abstract

Cyber security incidents, including the phishing attacks and increasing distributed-type attacks such as Emotet and others, and the revised Provider Liability Limitation Act in related to defamation and infringement of rights, are have been attracting attention nowadays.

In the event of cyber-attacks, infringement of rights, or other inappropriate behavior in public cyber spaces, telecommunications carriers have an “abuse” contact where customers and users participants can open a ticket.

Following JANOG47 Cyber Security BoF #7 (*public documents are available on line), this BoF will introduce the difficulties and efforts in the field from organizations working on improving cyber security in Japan and people in charge of abuse contact at cloud hosting and ISPs.

In addition, as of October 1, the procedure for disclosure of sender information has been changed due to the revision of the Provider Liability Limitation Act, and those in charge of abuse are also required to respond to the change.
We would like to exchange opinions on the issues from the perspective of service providers as well as issues to be addressed in our ongoing activities to improve security.
We look forward to your participation.
