Abustract

“Network automation” is popular topic in JANOG for decade, but the discussion has mainly focused on changing the configuration themselves and the procedures to do so, not so much on “how to” or fundamental/method of handle the related data.
When various parameters are managed in Excel, it can be difficult to update or check the latest parameters, or conflicts may occur.
In recent years, the concept of centrally managing data as a Single Source of Truth (SSoT) has emerged, as well as methods of network diagnosis that utilize such data.
There are various types of data required for automation (physical information, logical information, management information, operational information, etc.), but what are the challenges in handling such data?
How can the various types of data be handled accurately and without complexity, and can these data be used for troubleshooting, monitoring, future planning, and so on.
We would like to discuss how to handle data related to network automation and methods of using SSoT.

What we would like to discuss:
– What are the issues and management methods for handling various types of data required for automation? What are the cases in which centralization and abstraction are necessary and how to implement them?
– What are the purposes for which the various types of data in the network can be used, and what is already being done with them? (troubleshooting, monitoring, future planning etc.)
