Abstract

Service mesh is one of the most notable topics in the cloud-native community today, enabling connectivity, control, and monitoring between microservices and providing consistent development and deployment, health checks, security, and scalability for microservice architectures.

However, service mesh is not necessarily essential, and it does seem to be just a buzzword. Microservice itself may not even be of much concern to many network engineers in the first place.

In this session, titled “Why Network Engineers should know about Service Mesh,” we will discuss three points we should pay attention to service mesh.

1) Microservices are a set of design patterns, and service meshes are also design patterns.
2) Microservice design patterns are also effective for network systems
3) The boundaries of systems are changing.
