What is JANOGJANOG is the JApan Network Operators' Group. As with a number of other communities which share the same last three letters NOG, JANOG is a forum for network operators in Japan. JANOG's two major activities are semiannual meetings and the mailing list. Semiannual meetings are held in various cities in Japan in January and July, and gather 300+ participants. The mailing list - janog[at]janog.gr.jp holds 6000 subscribers as of December 2011. Since Japan's official language is Japanese, all of our activities (JANOG meetings and mailing lists) are communicated in Japanese. This page was prepared for non-Japanese speakers as an entrance of our community. See "JANOG's "Japanese Language Policy"" section. JANOG Web Top Page - http://www.janog.gr.jp/ MeetingsJANOG Meeting contents are published on the JANOG Web at http://www.janog.gr.jp/meeting/ in Japanese. JANOG i18n team works on having these contents available in English on a best-effort basis since JANOG21. This effort will be extended to other past meetings later. Next JANOG meetingJANOG29
Past MeetingsAttendee InformationAs described in the "What is JANOG" section, our meetings are all in Japanese. However try asking secretariat[at]janog.gr.jp to find if and how we can help you joining JANOG meetings if you are interested! We have had several foreign speakers in English and even some foreign participants.
JANOG's "Japanese Language Policy"One of JANOG's major policies is its "Japanese Language Policy." Japanese is the only official language of JANOG, since JANOG is a forum for network operators in Japan where the official language is Japanese. We accept and welcome presentation proposals from foreign presenters at JANOG meetings, but we ask them to arrange a interpreter. On the mailing list, all the discussions are in Japanese, although we may accept non-Japanese posting of some global public announcement. If you do not read and speak Japanese, we still welcome you to JANOG meetings as participants or as presenters. We may even be able to help you on a best effort basis, but we cannot commit to any further assistance. You are also welcome to subscribe to the mailing list, which is also in Japanese; but you are expected to have agreed to the privacy policy, which is only available in Japanese due to the costs of translating legal documents. Thank you very much for your kind understanding of our "Japanese language policy." An effort to get JANOG contents available in English - JANOG i18n TeamNotwithstanding the Japenase Language Policy on the JANOG mailing list and in meetings, JANOG has started an effort to communicate in English with a voluntary team for it. This team is called "i18n - internationalization" team. This English page is one of the efforts, and some of meeting contents and documents are to be translated into English. Please stay tuned to this page. Activities and InformationMailing ListWorking GroupsDocumentationPresentationsJANOG Update presentations are available on this page.
